<p>The mechanical calibration procedure can vary based on the type of equipment being calibrated. The procedure typically involves an inspection, comparison, adjustment and finally documentation. A calibration expert will inspect equipment for damage and wear, compare its performance against a reference standard, then adjust the instrument as needed to achieve the desired accuracy. This is then documented, as part of a traceable calibration process, where results are kept for record-keeping and compliance requirements.</p>


<p>Mechanical calibration is performed by qualified technicians using specialised equipment in a controlled environment. Instruments are set up and stabilised, followed by a series of measurements against certified reference standards. Necessary adjustments are made to ensure the instrument aligns with the defined accuracy and tolerance levels. <p>UKAS LAB 24 is a set of standards stipulated by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS). It describes the requirements of calibration laboratories as applied to mechanical testing of materials.
